James Davis Announcement

On June 7, 2023, the Founder and President of Major Taylor Cycling Club of South Carolina, James Tracey Davis, was involved in an accident in North Carolina while riding with a group. He was struck from behind by an automobile resulting in head trauma injury which he succumbed to on June 9, 2023.

James “Tracey” is an advocate for cycling. He has served as a trainer, ride captain, and social media communicator for both the Major Taylor Cycling Club of North Carolina (which he founded) and the Easy Riders founded by Harold James

James’s journey and passion for cycling began with a slight introduction by his friend one afternoon. An invitation turned into a passion that has driven James to an unfound niche and love for what is now a focus tool used personally promoting health, and a bridge as an advocate to the sportsmanship of cycling.

James “Tracey” has a great passion for cycling with a vision to promote the benefits of cycling through awareness and engagement to newcomers while enhancing the involvement of the advanced cycler. James’s motivation is driven by the foundation legacy of the great African American cyclist Major Taylor, who was profound in the craft pathing yet another achievement for the culture with health and wealth benefits.

As the president of Major Taylor Cycling Club of South Carolina, James “Tracey” Davis led the charge in developing and building relationships among the community of South Carolina and beyond. James’ vision to bring schools, businesses, and community leaders together utilizing cycling as the motivating bridge will continue with the MTCCSC members and Executive Board. James was a giant in the community of cycling, among friends and family, and has been honored by cyclists with one-mile rides of silence and mentioned in prayer before recent cycling events. James will be celebrated in service on June 24, 2023, at the New Birth Baptist Church 424 S. Flannery St in Burlington NC at 10 AM. A bicycle motorcade will lead James from the church to his resting place as a last ride in his honor.
